Principal's Message
College AcceptancesBrown Welcome to the Solomon Schechter High School of Long Island's web site. As one of the premiere Jewish Day Schools in North America, we are confident that we can offer all that you require in both secular and comprehensive Judaic education. As an institution of academic excellence, we are committed to quality in all aspects of our program - a commitment that is expressed in our enriched and innovative educational offerings. As a consequence, we have earned a well-deserved reputation of graduating students to some of the finest universities throughout the nation. As a Jewish Day School, we embrace the philosophy of Conservative Judaism - a philosophy that calls for adherence to 'Halacha' (Jewish law), rigorous scholarship, and intellectual pluralism. As a community, we strive to nurture and develop our students as unique human beings - a responsibility that compels us to identify and develop each student's individual gifts, and strengths, and to work hand-in-hand with parents to cultivate young adults well equipped to step forward as the next generation's visionaries and leaders. The superior intellectual, social, physical, and spiritual accomplishments we foster in our students encourage college admissions officers to look most favorably on our graduates. But more significant than this, we are most proud of the moral and ethical foundation we foster in our students, and the fact that they leave us as compassionate, culturally aware, and socially responsible Jews who have been taught to reflect God's presence in all of their endeavors, and who go into the world as blessings to the Jewish community and to society at large. Please take the time to navigate through our web site to see the many programs we offer. And, of course, check back frequently for updates. Please feel free to contact me should you have any questions or would like to arrange a tour of our campus. Sincerely, |
