Schechter's personalized college counseling program includes a whole network of college contacts. Throughout a student's four years of study, faculty works to prepare each student for the rigor of college-level work. Class work also includes methods that help students become more comfortable with the questioning formats of standardized tests. In addition, we offer SAT preparation courses to our juniors and seniors.
The college counselors have a great deal of experience, as each are retired Directors from excellent Nassau County public school districts. Individualized counseling is available to all students when requested, and the program is run as if students have private counselors at their disposal. A formal program includes a monthly newsletter, an eleventh grade college decision-making group program, several evening programs with college representatives on various topics, a specific program on financial aid, and an annual visitation program from approximately twenty top college admission representatives to discuss and inform all grades regarding individual colleges.
The process of senior's applying is truly individualized and there are numerous meetings held between counselor and student to "perfect" the college applications before they are mailed.
All students are carefully guided by academic advisors beginning in ninth grade to select the proper academic program that will lead to acceptances at the college of their choice.
