...our students display the highest levels of initiative and cooperation.

The mission of the Athletic Department of Solomon Schechter High School of Long Island is to promote enthusiasm and pride in the pursuit of athletic achievement, to encourage support of one's teammates, and to nurture the development of character while providing avenues of personal success.

As a member of the Independent Private Parochial Schools Athletic League (IPPSAL), our Schechter teams enjoy both intramural and interscholastic competitions where our students display the highest levels of initiative and cooperation.

At the end of each semester, the Athletics Department honors the participants of each aspect of our program, giving families and students the chance to celebrate their accomplishments and look forward to the next season. The sports year culminates with the Schechter Athletics Award Night, our end-of-the-year awards ceremony.

Through their participation in athletics, students at our high school form lasting friendships and learn life-long lessons of honesty, courtesy, fair play, sportsmanship, teamwork, and service to team, school, and community.
