Thank you for visiting the Solomon’s Strikers and Solomon’s Sluggers Homepage. We have been an important part of the Solomon Schechter Day School of Long Island in Jericho, New York, for many years. The games are only played on Sundays, which makes our program ideal for the Shabbos observing family. The emphasis of the program is not on winning, but on having fun, improving one’s skills, physical fitness, good sportsmanship and fellowship. We run our Solomon’s Strikers and Solomon’s Sluggers programs on a league basis, forming teams by grades, so children about the same age play each other. With this type of program, we will form teams and play scheduled games. In order for this style of program to be a complete success, we ask for parent volunteers to coach our teams. In our Strikers Soccer program to add to the experience, we use NOGA instructors (Soccer professionals) to help enhance our instruction and skills.

The Solomon’s Strikers play their games starting in early September (usually a week or two after Labor Day), and run through the middle of November. The Solomon’s Sluggers start their baseball season at the beginning of April and end about the middle of June. There will never be games on the Sabbath or Jewish Holidays. The Solomon’s Strikers and Solomon’s Sluggers programs are co-ed and open to all children from Kindergarten through 5th grade. We welcome Jewish children from both our sponsor school, Solomon Schechter of Long Island, and from all over Long Island and Queens. All of our games are played at the Solomon Schechter Day School in Jericho, on Barbara Lane. The first half hour of each week is devoted to warm-ups, instruction and practices. Scheduled games will then follow for the remaining hour.

We do ask that all who join our programs adhere to Solomon Schechter’s policy of bringing only Kosher, Peanut-Free drinks and snacks to our games and all activities.
