Mission Statement
We are deeply committed to enhancing the full intellectual and spiritual potential of each child regardless of gender.
The Solomon Schechter Day School of Nassau County is a Jewish Day School committed to excellence in Jewish and secular education in a caring and supportive environment. We emphasize Limud Torah (Study of Torah), Metzvot (Jewish Observance), Gemilut Chasadim (Deeds of Kindness), and Tefilah (Worship of God).
As a school affiliated with the Conservative Movement, we seek the integration of Judaism and American culture in the lives of our children. We are deeply committed to enhancing the full intellectual and spiritual potential of each child regardless of gender. We are dedicated to the full development of our students through an enriched, comprehensive, and innovative secular and Judaic Studies program, including academic studies, the creative arts, and physical education.
In a secular world we imbue a sense of Kedushah, an awareness of God's Presence and our responsibilities towards God's creation. We cultivate a sense of wonder, gratitude, and thankfulness which are the foundations of a religious life.
We build a school community in which students work with a dedicated faculty. Our faculty brings to each student an expertise and love for their subject areas, a commitment to Jewish values, and a deep regard for the individual worth of each of our students.
We instill a respect for Klal Y'israel, the entire spectrum of the Jewish community. We attempt to inculcate Ahavat Yisrael, a love of Israel, its language, land, and people. We are committed to the study of Hebrew as the language of our people and the vehicle through which our tradition has been transmitted from generation to generation.
We develop an alliance of school, home, synagogue, and community toward the deepening of Jewish life.
