Mazal Tov to SSLI Alumna Rachel Samuels (class of 2011), who is a recipient of the  2015 - 2016 Joel Daner Yachad Communal Fellowship.

Rachel Samuels, from Roslyn Heights, New York, is a graduate of Binghamton University. She majored in Human Development and double minored in Education and Judaic Studies and was very involved in campus life including being a peer advisor and active participant with both Binghamton’s Hillel and Chabad.

Rachel applied to the Daner Fellowship because of her passion about inclusion. She ultimately accepted the fellowship because she felt it was the perfect opportunity to weave her Jewish beliefs and values with that passion for advocating and providing resources for people with special needs.

During this year as a Daner Fellow, she hopes to gain the skills to further educate our greater community about individuals with special needs, and teach others to advocate on behalf of families who cannot do so for themselves. Rachel is looking forward to a great year and is excited to be a part of Yachad’s mission in making sure everyone feels a sense of belonging within the community.
