CIJE-Tech High School Engineering Program at Schechter

In September, 2011, CIJE launched a never before offered two-year course in Scientific and Biomedical Engineering for high school students.  This innovative new curriculum prepares students for careers in engineering, programming and advanced technology. CIJE aims to educate a generation of students in Jewish schools so that they can enter and compete in the global marketplace. CIJE provides participating high schools with a full curriculum, an experienced mentor, rigorous teacher training, and the equipping of all classrooms with laptops, apparatus and all necessary materials. Today, CIJE-Tech is being taught in close to forty schools in the New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Florida, and California. The curriculum developed to achieve this goal was designed with the following objectives:
  • Provide a challenging and rigorous program of study focusing on the application of STEM
  • Expose students to a diverse range of scientific and technological knowledge areas
  • Prepare students for successful college and university STEM education
  • Develop ability for abstract and interdisciplinary thinking
  • Develop leadership and teamwork skills
  • Offer courses and pathways for preparation in STEM fields and careers
